I recently went on the Atkins diet again (I know, I picked a strange time of year to watch my food intake!). One of the hardest parts of dieting for me is having to give up beer, which has a lot of carbs. I know a lot of people have the same complaint. One option is to go with an ultra light beer like Michelob Ultra, which only has 2.7g of carbohydrates, a very manageable carb load. But beers like this are so light they taste like water!

It made me wonder, Mad Hops has zero carbs, so could it boost the flavor of Michelob Ultra? I decided to put Mad Hops to the ultimate test: if it worked on Ultra, it would work on anything!

Tastes Great, Less Filling

The first Mad Hops flavors I tried were the fruity ones. My thought was that they would work better with a very light beer by adding some much needed body. Turns out I was right! Mad Hops made drinking Ultra a much more enjoyable experience. It even hid the chemically after taste. In fact, from now on I’m going to include ultra light beer in my inventory when doing shows. It’s proof that these little drops will dramatically improve anyone’s beer, and only add 5 calories to a 12-oz beer!

The Blueberry and Cherry flavors really changed the color too, so that was a nice surprise. The color of the apple was a little light but at least offered a great aroma and taste (as did Mexican Lime, but that one’s not supposed to change color).

I was more skeptical with what I call our Beer Flavors: Irish Porter and Pale Ale. But again, I was very surprised. Mad Hops definitely elevated the base beer and, while no one would ever confuse either with a craft beer, the drinking experience was significantly improved. As always, you can play with the amount of Mad Hops you put in; some people think the ultra lights need more help than a regular beer.

While we at Mad Hops always pitch how we make an inexpensive beer better, I must say I was surprised at the price of Mich Ultra. It’s not inexpensive! I paid over $8 for a six pack; very nearly the cost of a low-end craft beer.

But it’s good to know that I don’t have to completely say good-bye to beer (and beer flavor) while I work on a trimmer me. Mad Hops will help me tolerate a low-carb light beer, or all light beers for that matter!

Cheers!
